Aberdeen Community Health Fair will be Jan. 8

Aberdeen Middle School will host the 10th annual Community Health Fair and Blood Drive Wednesday, Jan. 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Blood screenings will be available until 1 p.m. and cost between $5 and $40 depending on the tests you would like to have done. Those wishing to test need to fast for 12 hours prior to the test time.

The Portneuf Medical Center mobile mammogram will be available to do tests. The fair will also feature free mole screenings and body composition testing. The Idaho State Police, Country Health Store, Wallace Drug, Bingham Memorial Hospital, District Health Department, and DEQ will be in attendance this year.

Free well water tests will be performed if you wish to bring in a water sample. The water will be tested for nitrate contamination. To have well water tested, bring a 1-cup sample of the well water in a clean glass jar or a zipper-type bag. Collect the sample from a water source that is not connected to a filter, water softener, or other filtration device. An outside faucet or hydrant works best. Before collecting the sample, let the water run 10 to 15 minutes and collect the sample on the same day as the testing event.
