Grigg and Wahlen hired as new basketball coaches

Steven Grigg of American Falls is the new Varsity Boys Basketball coach. He is a former basketball referee for the fifth district. Grigg's is super excited to work the boys and feels they have a lot of talent. They have practice on Monday and Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. These practices will help them get ready for the six summer tournaments that have been scheduled.

Ryan Wahlen, a native of Aberdeen and former basketball player for Aberdeen, will coach the Girls' Varsity team with the help of Nic Behrend the JV coach. Wahlen said he is looking forward to working with Nic. He loves the kids and hopes that any and all girls who want to play will come out to play and participate. He feels there are a lot of students with potential. He is very committed in helping the team be successful and gain a source of pride for their team.

The girls practice on Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. They have three summer tournaments scheduled in Ririe, North Fremont and American Falls. They will attend a summer camp at ISU in June.

Wahlen is looking forward to the scheduled Aberdeen camp which will feature Taylor Wallace an Aberdeen alumni, who plays college basketball. The Taylor Wallace Youth Basketball camp will be held July 11 and 12 for second through seventh grades in Aberdeen. Wahlen and Behrend will help with the camp but Wallace will be the main coach. Wahlen is excited to have Wallace come and coach the girls.

Travis Pincock, Aberdeen High School principal, stated "The school is excited to have them to coach."
