City council has four seats up for election

Linda Balls, city clerk, announced that there will be elections this year for three council members and the office of mayor. If you are interested in filing a Declaration of Candidacy for a council position or for mayor, you need to go to city Hall and fill out the paper work. You will need to file a Declaration of Candidacy and either pay a nonre fundable fee of $40 or attach a Petition of Candidacy signed by at least five qualified city electors, preferably more.

The filing period for a Declaration of Candidacy for this election is Aug 24 at 8 a.m. to Sept. 4 at 5 p.m.

Candidates must live within the city limits to be eligible for positions.

Elections will be held in November.
