Springfield is applying for grant, needs help
Visitors to the Springfield Park lately have noticed there are not many toys to play on. The swings currently in the park will be removed this spring because of insurance issues, which will leave only two tractor tires to play on. Some concerned citizens of Springfield and the Bingham County Park and Recreation Department are working to write a grant to help purchase some playground equipment for the Springfield Park.
They have picked out a simple piece of playground equipment that will cost approximately $25, 000. This amount does not include the labor, ground preparation, wood chips for the area, and other costs. The grant will probably cover only half of the equipment.
They are asking anyone, or any business that would like to volunteer time, supplies, or donations to please let them know. The grant needs to be turned in by Jan. 15, 2011. At this time they are only asking for letters of commitment. The letters need to be in as soon as possible, but no later than Jan. 10, 2011.
Send the letters to: Craig Rowland at: Bingham County Park and Recreation Dept., or E-mail him at crowland@co.bingham.id.us.
