Donald E. "Don" Severns, Sr., 90 of Bement, passed away at 7:30 P.M. on Monday, December 23, 2013 at the Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 11:30 A.M. at the Bement United Methodist Church, 249 N. Piatt St., Bement. The Rev. E. Paul Unger Officiated. Visitation was held from 9:30 A.M. until time of services on Saturday at the church. Graveside services were at 2:00 P.M., on Saturday, December 28, 2013, in the Graceland Fairlawn Cemetery, Decatur. Memorial contributions can be made to the Bement United Methodist Church.

Don was born on June 13, 1923 in Cerro Gordo, a son of Wil-lard Guy and Edith Estella Funk Severns. He married Helen C. Waggoner on February 27, 1947 and she died on May 2, 1996. He later married Audine M. Moery on July 26, 1997 and she survives of Bement.

Surviving children include, Donald E.(Tracie) Severns, Jr. of Hamilton, Rodney B. (Jane) Severns of Decatur, and Patty Lee (Douglas) Love of Bloomington, as well as 3 step-children, John A (Kathy) Moery of Chicago, Jeffrey (Vicki) Moery of Eureka, MO, and Jill (Terry) Lawson of Bement. He is survived by 6 grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, 5 step-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife, 2 daughters, Penny Severns and Marsha Severns Hamilton, 2 brothers and 1 sister.

Don was a member of the Bement United Methodist Church, Bement VFW Post, and the Decatur Moose Lodge, he was also a veteran of the Navy Air Corp.
