Fritts among 14 players honored at ASWA Banquet

Kendarius Fritts, Linden High School running back extraordinare, was among 14 prep players honored Wednesday, Jan. 12, at the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in Birmingham. The Hall was the site of the Alabama Sports Writers Association (ASWA) Mr. Football Banquet. The event was sponsored by Hibbett Sports.

Fritts was among the 14 players as the ASWA Class 1A Back of the Year, accompanied by his family and Linden High School coaches Andro Williams and Stacy Waters. 2010 marked the second consecutive year Fritts has been recognized with that honor. The talented senior transferred from AL. Johnson after his sophomor year in a move thai that only added to an already heated rivalry between the two schools.

Fritts led Linden to a 24-3 record during his career as a Patriot, while running for over 4,200 yards and scoring 66 touchdowns.

"He's a special kid, one that I knew had great potential," said Linden head coach Andro Williams. "He did a tremendous job, but he had a great supporting cast around him." Wetumpka High School quarterback Jamal Golden was named the 29th recipient of the ASWA Mr. Football Award.
