Clyde Williamson Van Deren

Clyde Williamson Van Deren, born December 17, 1913 in Cornville, AZ and Helen M. Van Deren born May 26, 1914 in Gravity, 1A are together again. Dad died on August 14, 2013 and Mom predeceased him on March 1,, 2003. They met on a Dude ranch in Wyoming in 1934. Dad was a cowboy who drove horses to and from Arizona for the ranch and wrangled dudes and horses during the summers. Mom taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Iowa in the winters and waited tables during the summer at the ranch. They were married on April 9, 1939 and Dad subsequently worked in the airplane industry for early Pan American, Howard Hughes, Boeing and many others.

Dad never lost his love of Arizona and his family carries on an abiding affection for all of Arizona's beauty and history. Mom and Dad settled in Eatonville, WA in 1952, where they raised strawberries, cucumbers and their three daughters; Clydene Bolinger (Pete) of Methow, WA and Cottonwood, AZ, Marywave Van Deren (Gary A. Jacobson) of Tacoma, WA and Cottonwood, AZ and Lauralee Van Deren of Eatonville, WA. They are greatly missed by their daughters and their families of 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Grandson, Donald Van Deren Hanks and his wife, Cherie live in Rimrock, AZ with their three children and own Tire Pro Automotive in Cottonwood, Sedona and Camp Verde. Nephew Emmett McMenamin lives in Cornville. All three daughters own homes in Cottonwood. \/
