Kiwanis of Hood Canal awards scholarships

The Kiwanis Club of Hood Canal recently awarded $1,000 scholarships to Shelton High School graduates Aurora Gouley and Mark Vernon.

Gouley is a member of the Skokomish Tribe and plans to pursue a degree in nursing.

She was recognized for her academic and athletic achievements, and her community activities.

Vernon is one of two 2016 Shelton High School graduates who earned a perfect 4.0 GPA. He was also active performing community service with the Shelton High School Kiwanis Key Club. He plans to pursue a degree in medicine at the University of Washington.
