Museum will honor military veterans

In honor of the veterans of Marengo County, the Marengo County History and Archives Museum will present an exhibition dedicated to all who have worn a uniform Saturday, Nov. 7, through Friday, Nov. 20.

Located in the Rosenbush Building at 101 N. Walnut, Demopolis, you will find uniforms, helmets, medals, replica weapons and other gear from many wars and conflicts including World War I, World War II, the Korean Conflict, the Vietnam War, Operation Desert Storm

Afghanistan and the Iraq War. And, also on exhibit is a Jeep, fully restored and running, used during World War II.

Included with the uniforms are write-ups and photographs explaining the history of the service members or family members who own them. The uniforms, gear and memorabilia on display has been donated and provided for by veterans, their spouses and family.

Exhibition hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:00 am — 4:00 pm and Saturdays, 10:00 am — 4:00 pm. For group tours please contact Mary Jones-Fitts at the above hours @ 334-289-0599 or 334-341-3439.

On Veteran's Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 6:00 pm, the museum will present a short program with Philip Spence as guest speaker.
