A representative of the Pima County Food Plus program, commonly called "the cheese program" by recipients, will be in Ajo at the Assembly of God Church's Fellowship Hall to enroll seniors in the program this Thursday, June 4, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Pima County residents who are at least 60 years of age, with a household income less than $1276 for one person, $1,726 for two, $2,177 for three, or $2,628 for four are eligible. Eligibility for larger households will be determined at the interview.

Applicants will need to bring proof of age (such as a driver's license or AZ ID), proof of income for 2015 (Social Security letter, retirement, pension, bank or other income statement), and proof of address (a current utility or cable bill, rent or mortgage receipt, or current drivers license).

"Eligible persons will receive 30 pounds of food (plus a block of cheese!) the first Thursday of the month at the Assembly of God church once each month for up to a year," said Jerri Brigman of the Ajo Food Pantry. Eligibility is determined once per year.
