Buffalo Shores Community steps forward to help others with a December food drive
During the December 12 Buffalo Shores Food Drive, residents of the Grove subdivision donated enough food to fill the trunks of two vehicles for distribution by the Grove Christian H.E.L.P. Center to needy families in Delaware County.
In addition, more than $1,000 in cash and checks was contributed to the center to help purchase more food.
"We are delighted with the turnout and generosity of our residents," said Lynne Green, president of the Buffalo Shores South Property Owners Association, which co-sponsored the drive, along with the Buffalo Shores Recreation Club. "With the current economic recession, the need has never been greater. It's wonderful to see our community responding to that need."
Food contributions ranged from cooking oil to flour to soup to canned fruit, among many other grocery items.
The items were delivered to the H.E.L.P. center immediately after the Food Drive. Several checks for $100 and other amounts were received as well.
