Police were earlier this week still searching for a white male who allegedly attacked a 19-year-old woman last week in a Belfair State Park restroom.

The man is described as 6-foot-2 to 6-foot-4 and 300 pounds with green eyes and short curly blond or reddish hair with a receding hairline.

The woman, a Pierce County resident, told officials she was in a stall in the womens restroom at about 1:45 a.m. July 13 when a man with her.

He later demanded she shower in front of him and asked her to remove her clothes.

When she refused, the man pushed her into a stall and started to attack her.

The woman escaped and ran to the camp host to report the incident.

Mason County Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy Ryan Spurling said he did not believe the woman was injured.

The woman reported seeing the suspect's vehicle when she escaped; he is believed to be driving a white Toyota 4 Runner or a newer Jeep Cherokee.

Spurling said the sheriff's department is contacting surrounding counties to review their sexual offenders lists to see if anyone matches the description given.

"We're checking all the resources available to us — our wanted files, known people in the community," Spurling said.

He added the woman was not camping at the state park but just stopped to use the restroom. However, he advised people use a buddy system while camping or when out late at night.

Call Det. Ken Potts at the Mason County Sheriff's Office at 257-4467, ext. 313 with information regarding this case.
