Belfair man dies in SRI 06 crash

CopyA 91-year-old Belfair man was killed Dec. 18 when his car was struck by another vehicle as he made an unsafe U-turn, on state Route 106 three miles west of Belfair, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Richard O. Rasmussen was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a report by the Washington State Patrol. His passenger, an 84-year-old Belfair woman, was taken to Harrison Hospital Bremerton.
The driver of the other of the other vehicle, a 33-year-old Bremerton woman, was also taken to Harrison Hospital Bremerton. Both vehicles were totaled.
Rasmussen's 2010 Honda CRV was stopped on the westbound shoulder in a curve on state Route 106 about 11:17 a.m. Dec. 18.
He attempted an unsafe U-turn, and was struck by a 2001 Ford Escape being driven westbound by the Bremerton woman.
No charges were issued in the accident.
