Pugh faces manslaughter for DUI death of Downey

Peggy Pugh of Thomasville was indicted Wednesday, June 11, for felony manslaughter in the death of Anne Downey of Putnam.

Downey died after the car driven by Pugh Crossed the centerline of the Bashi Road near Putnam and collided with the vehicle driven by Pam Smith.

Pam Smith and her mother had driven

Downey to the hospital in Thomasville for treatment and were returning home. Both were seriously injured.

One person at the scene said the car being driven by Pugh came across the centerline and the two cars collided head-on.

Pugh was arrested and the grand jury incited her for driving under the influence of alcohol, manslaughter, and assault first degree, two counts.

Her close friend Lucy Gamble announced that the people preached anne Downey's funeral. Many stood and told 6f her contributions to the community, the fire department, and the youth of the area.

Pugh was manager of McDonald's in Thomasville.
