Sewer rates to increase
A recent Mason County Commission resolution will increase 2016 sewer rates four-tenths of a percent in the Rustlewood, Beards Cove and North Bay Case Inlet water and sewer systems.
The increase applies to all charges associated with the Rustlewood, Beards Cove and North Bay Case Inlet systems, including monthly service rates, connection charges and permit fees.
This increase is to cover the county's higher costs for the operation and maintenance of the water and sewer utility systems.
The resolution amends Title 13 of the Mason County Code to revise chapter 13.31. The Belfair Sanitary Sewer Code and the monthly rate for sewer service shall remain at $96 per month for 2016.
New connection charges will increase from $10,200 per Equivalent Residential Unit (ERU) to $13,000 beginning Jan. 1. All other permit fees inspection fees and charges will remain unchanged in 2016.
