Green Diamond Resource Co. buys 600K acres in Oregon
Green Diamond Resource Co. has purchased about 600,000 acres of timberland in South-central Oregon, President Douglas Reed announced Monday.
The land was previously owned by JWTR LLC. Of Klamath Falls, Oregon.
Green Diamond now owns and manages more than 1.3 million acres in Washington, Oregon and California.
"We are delighted with this significant growth opportunity for our company," Reed said in a news release. "The acquisition reflects our confidence in timberland assets and out commitment to the future of the forest products industry. We have been careful forest stewards in the Pacific Northwest for nearly 125 years, and we look forward to continuing our long-term commitment to sustainable forestry in Oregon."
Reed also announced the appointment of Andy Elsbree as vice president and general manager of Oregon operations.
Elsbree has a forestry degree from Oregon State University and a masters in business administration from Columbia University and has worked in forest management for 30 years, according to Green Diamond.
