Online registration for soccer increases; park district to add payment ability to website
Online registration for Arthur Community Park District's spring soccer program was popular enough to update the district's website to include the ability to pay registration fees online.
Lelia Miller, district secretary, will meet with Jay Martin to add the payment ability. She said the majority of families involved in soccer used online registration. Because they could not pay online, they had to submit cash or checks through their coaches.
Having the ability to pay online would streamline the process, she said.
Kenny Miller offered to help the park district by lining the soccer field on a regular basis.
The board authorized Miller to line the field every Friday until the park supervisor position is filled.
Commissioner Shawn Vanausdoll met with Brad Hunt to discuss the septic system at Brad-O-Clen. Hunt will put in the system to accommodate the proposed campsites.
Vanausdoll said David Schrock will build the rest-rooms.
Jurgens Park was struck with another incident of vandalism. This one occurred on "The Hill." Mark Yoder had graded the area to smooth out the ruts left by a prior act of vandalism.
Soon after the damage was repaired, someone made fresh ruts. Mac Condill fixed the ruts at The Hill and other ruts near the west diamond.
The commissioners are taking steps to prevent further vandalism in the park.
The gutter on the main pavilion at Eberhardt Park recently was damaged by wind. The park district hired Steven Brenneman of Central Illinois Gutters to repair the damage. Cost is $230.
President Tim Likens said he had received some inquiries about the board vacancies. He will likely make appoints at the board's next meeting, or call a special meeting to do so.
Next meeting of Arthur Community Park Board wilt be at 5:30 p.m.' on Tuesday, May 12.
