ATHENS-Progress continues to be made on bond-related matters at Athens ISD.

A team from Claycomb Associates, the architectural firm hired by the district, met with representatives from impacted campuses Thursday to go over the initial design drawings - a collaborative session called "design charrette."

In this process, the architects take input regarding placement of buildings and rooms from individuals who will be using them.

Design development will follow, when issues such as material selection and window and door locations are worked out.

Formal bidding for the school bonds was set for Jan. 21.

Funds are expected to become available mid-to-late February, and ground broken around June.
