Forrest Allen Burkenbine, 57, died unexpectedly while at work on Sunday, June 7, 2015, in Ajo.

He was born May 25, 1958, in Heppner, Oregon, to Forrie & Gail Burkenbine. He was graduated from Heppner High School in 1976 and worked in the grocery business at Central Market with his parents.

He moved to Ajo in 2001 where he met and married his wife, Velvet Richardson. He worked in the insurance business.

"He was outgoing, friendly, loved working with public, and had a kindness unsurpassed," said his family. "He loved spending time in the mountains in his home state. A physical handicap limited his activity but he was well-read. We think he probably read every book in the library. We will all miss him and he will be in our hearts forever."

Mr. Burkenbine was preceded in death by his father, Reese Forrest "Forrie" Burkenbine, who died October 13, 2014.

He is survived by his wife, Velvet Burkenbine of Ajo; by his daughters Jennifer Hammons, Monica Madsen, Samantha DeLaughder, Stephanie Burkenbine, and Amy McRoberts; by two step-children; and by seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Gail Burkenbine of Walla Walla, Washington; and by his sisters Lisa Leonard and Connie LaFarge.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
