George Alegria Sr., 63, died at his home in Phoenix on September 8, 2015.

He was born in Ajo on February 23, 1952, to Soila Y. Alegria.

He grew up here and was a nember of the 1971 graduating class of Ajo High School. He left the community when he was about 22 years old.

In October 1971, he married Angelina Alvarez in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ajo.

A cement finisher, he retired from work for the City of Phoenix in 2013.

Mr. Alegria was a devout member of the Catholic faith and attended church at Our Lady of Guadalupe Monastery were he also did volunteer work.

He is remembered by many for lis music, playing guitar and bass, h his spare time, he loved to ride lis 2005 Harley Davidson Softail Deluxe.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Soila Alegria Kilpatrick, and by his sister, Rita Anne "Pili" Alegria M.

He is survived by his wife, Angelina Alegria of Phoenix; his sons, Andre Alegria, George Alegria Jr., and Christopher Alegria, all of Phoenix; by his daughter, Angela Alegria of Phoenix; by his sister, Michelle A. Pacheco of Ajo; and by his ten grandchildren.

Mass followed visitation and rosary on Tuesday morning, September 15, at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Phoenix. Services were led by Father Stephan and Sisters Linda & Lydia. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery. Pallbearers were Andre Alegria, George Alegria Jr., Christopher Alegria, Keanu Alegria, Joe Martinez, and Angel Vega.

Arrangements were by Crystal Rose Funeral Home.
