Two Delaware County Commissioners seats, District's one and three, have several candidates voters will decide on during the primary election to be held July 27. Delaware County candidate filings for June 7, 8 and 9, 2010 are as follows: County Commissioner District 1

David Poindexter-age 32 - Democrat

Danny Gandy - age 48 - Democrat

Jerry L. Cole - age 66 - Republican

Doug Smith - age 56 - Republican

County Commissioner District 3

Robert Rowley - age 47 - Democrat

Don Beck - age 47 - Democrat

Martin Kirk - age 44 - Democrat

Charles Lanier - age 69 - Democrat

Lenden Woodruff - age 53 - Democrat

Bob Spry - age 47 - Democrat

Danny Duncan - age 58 - Democrat

Countv Assessor

Leon Hurt - age 51 - Democrat

County Treasurer

Susan Duncan - age 42 - Democrat

Monkey Island Fire Protection District - Joan Higgins

Monkey Island Fire Protection District Board member Joan Higgins There is an opening on the board, and residents living in the district can sign-up to be considered as a board member Higgins was the only one to file for the open seat.

Only incumbents filed in Ottawa County.

Filing for the seats were County Commissioner District 1 - John Clark; County Commissioner District 3 - Russell Earls; County Assessor - Linda Kelly and County Treasurer - Beth Sly, who was appointed after former treasurer retired.

Besides state wide office candidates, the town of Miami is scheduled to be on the ballot for Miami voters only is a proposition which will be Ordinance No. 1558 of the "City of Miami Sales Tax Ordinance of 1985, " if passed will increase the excise tax by sixty five hundredths of one percent (.65%) upon the gross proceeds or gross receipts derived from all safes taxable under the Sales Tax Law of Oklahoma.
