The window of a newly established Mexican restaurant was destroyed Saturday morning when an 83-year-old woman stepped on the wrong pedal and crashed into the full-length glass window.

There were no injuries in the incident, reported just after 11 o'clock Saturday morning at Bienvenidos Al Gran restaurant located at 803 South First Street. The driver of the 1999 Nissan Altima was Margaret Swisher of Shelton, according to Lieutenant Dave Eklund of the Shelton Police Department. She was not injured. Her passenger complained of back pain but was not transported to hospital, Eklund noted.

"Apparently her foot slipped off the brake as she was about to park at the front of the business and hit the gas, jumped over the sidewalk and impacted the front of the building," he reported.

Eklund did not have an estimate of the damage and said no charges are pending.
