Eastern Washington University has dismissed junior football player LaShawn Jameison from the athletic program in light of his alleged involvement in a North Spokane shooting on Jan. 18.

EWU will not comment on his status as a student, the school said in a statement. In general, the University responds to criminal incidents with appropriate student discipline interventions, ensuring campus safety as well as the rights of the accused. Normally, in cases when students are arrested for felony activity in the community, the University initiates an interim suspension pending the student conduct process.

As with all discipline issues, the campus cannot divulge individual student information.
