MTA girls alpine take second at Titcomb, Nordic team hits the trail

FARMINGTON -- Extra days on snow proved beneficial for the Mt. Abram girls' Alpine team, last week, when the Roadrunners showed vast improvement fashioning a second place finish at the Titcomb Mountain slalom race.

Elise and Erin Luce paced the Roadrunners' climb in the standings, finishing second and third, respectively. Elise posted a two-run time of 1:22.06 with Erin at 1:24.13.

Mt. Blue's Heather Farrington managed her first high school career win with a 1:20.18 helping the Cougars claim first.

Emily Listowich and Ruth Fault rounded out the Lady Roadrunner scoring.

In the boys' race, Patrick Banahan shot to the podium with a third place finish in 1:20.43. Mt. Blue's Lucas Bonnevie won his second straight race in 1:11.77. Dylan McFarland, Caleb Taylor and Noah Burgess scored for the Roadrunners.

MTA Nordic Update

At Black Mountain, in a 5k classical race, the Roadrunner girls finished 12th in a 15-team field. Yarmouth took the top spot.

Skiing for the Roadrunner Nordic team this season are: Sadie James, Emma Houston, Ivy Mitman, Maggie Elliott, Hattie Rosenberg, and Riley Romanoski.

James did not compete in the classical race at Black Mountain but did race in the New England Nordic Ski Association competition earning an impressive 68th against an exceptional field of skiers.

Houston finished as the top Mt. Abram girls' skier in the 5k classical, crossing the finish line in 20:16.9 in 20th place. Romanoski was 70th, Mitman 71st and Rosenberg 98th, racing against a field of 131 racers.

Gould Academy's Molly Siegel took first place in 16:33.0.

Mt. Abram boys finished seventh in a quality field of 19 teams that featured 168 racers. Yarmouth, also, took top honors in the boys' race.

Skiing for Mt. Abram are: Jay Chenard, Nick Carlton, Trent Rosenberg, Thomas Farraday, Jake Riendeau, Patrick Banahan, Trevor Brackley and Draegan Tooker.

Chenard topped Roadrunner skiers with a 31st place finish in 16:38.6. Farraday took 34th in 16:49.2 with Carlton and Rosenberg, also, scoring for Mt Abram. Silas Eastman, of Fryeburg, was the top skier in the boys' race finishing in 14:00.0.
