Oracle resident makes possible grisly discovery
An Oracle woman, last week, made a grisly discovery that turned out to be more of a grizzly discovery.
On Wednesday afternoon, the woman called the Pinal County Sheriff's Office to report that her dogs had carried what looked like a human hand onto her porch. A deputy was dispatched to her home located in the 1600 block of East Durant Road, Oracle.
The deputy looked at the remains but was unable to determine whether it was human or animal.
A PCSO detective recommended that the deputy take a photo of the remains and forward it to other detectives. The photo was also sent to Game and Fish and the Medical Examiner's Office. They all agreed that it was the paw of a bear.
The remains were sent to the ME's office in Florence for physical confirmation and it was conclusively determined to be a bear paw.
PCSO Public Information Officer Elias Johnson stated it best. "Thankfully, it was NOT a human hand!"
