WPCCC to hear about census, proposed GSA land purchase
The US census and the proposed governmental purchase of property at 55 Sahuaro will head the Western Pima County Community Council agenda when the council meets at the Ajo Community Center in Walker Park this Thursday, March 4, at 7 p.m.
Joe Messersmith will discuss the 2010 US Census and its importance to the community. Census forms will be delivered to every residence in the United States and Puerto Rico in March.
Osmahn Anthony Kadri, a National Environmental Policy Act project manager will provide information regarding the US General Services Administration and its proposed purchase of property in Ajo where it plans to build a modular home complex for Customs & Border Protection employees. The property is located at 55 Sahuaro, where a small modular home community is already located. Two planned phases could place up to 48 units at the location along with sidewalks and landscaping.
Local law enforcement agencies will provide updates on community issues.
There will be an open floor period when people attending the meeting may bring up concerns. "Your comments and questions are welcome," said councilor Carol Yokum.
