Bond election is this Tuesday

Ajo area voters headed to the polling place at the Ajo Federated Church's social hall on Tuesday, November 3, won't find a lengthy ballot. The only items on the Consolidated Election ballot are the county bond issues.

Of the seven bond propositions, a few directly impact Ajo and others only indirectly.

Proposition 425 is for road and highway improvements with an aggregate principal amount not exceeding $200,000,000

Proposition 426 is for economic development, libraries and workforce training in an aggregate principal amount not exceeding $91,375,000.

Proposition 427 is for Tourisn Promotion with an aggregae principal amount not exceeding $98,600,000.

Proposition 428 is for parks and recreational facilities and includes improvements to Ajo Community Golf Course and replacing the lighting system on two multi-purpose fields in Walker Park. Work on other parks in the county is also included with an aggregate principal amount not exceeding $191,500,000.

Proposition 429 is for public health, welfare, safety, neighborhoods and housing with an aggregate principal amount not exceeding $105,300,000.

Proposition 430 is for natural area conservation and historic preservation and includes work on Ajo Curley School gym, the Plaza, and other historic buildings, along with seven other county projects with an aggregate principal amount not exceeding $112,050,000. Ajo's Alley Valley has been approved for consideration as open space as part of Proposition 430.

Proposition 431 is for flood control and drainage with an aggregate principal amount not exceeding $16,935,000.
