Stuttgart beats Dragonettes
The DeWitt Dragonettes played Stuttgart close at times Tuesday night, but not often enough as the Ricebirds recorded a 51-39 victory.
"I thought we handled | Stuttgart's] pressure well at times, but at other times we would get in too big a hurry and throw the ball away," DeWitt coach Bobby Peeks said.
Stuttgart led most of the early going, and a late run gave them a 24-18 lead at halftime. The Dragonettes played better in the third quarter, and rallied to tie the game at 28-28 on a basket by Heidi Howe with 5:04 left in the period.
However, Stuttgart ripped off seven straight points in the next 90 seconds and had a 15-7 run
the rest of the quarter, and the Dragonettes were never able to get close again.
"I felt like we could have shot better, especially at close range, at times, especially in the third quarter," Peeks said.
The game drew one of the largest crowds of the year. "We appreciate the support, especially the large number of students," Peeks said., and the DragonettesBald Knob took control of the game with a 22-4 run in the second quarter and beat the Dragonettes 51-18 last Thursday. BALD KNOB 51, DEWITT 18

Counce led DeWitt with six points. Horton had five points, Heidi Howe' four and Kieundra Brown one.
