Break out the sweet tooth, satisfy your sugar cravings this weekend and avoid any guilt — it's for a good cause — at the first countywide dessert cook-off.

The North Mason Resources Decadent Dessert Cook Off and Dessert Auction is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Mary E. Theler Center, 22871 state Route 3 in Belfair.

Judges from the community will rate dessert entries based on taste and presentation, awarding the Best Dessert Ever for the county at the end of the night.

The best desserts will be auctioned off as part of the fundraiser.

Professional and amateur bakers can enter any sweet creation for $20; all that's needed is a display of 100 samples for judging.

Tickets to attend the event are $10.

"And I'm telling people there are no calories on Leap Year weekend, so diets shouldn't be a problem," said Cat Ross, director of North Mason Resources.

North Mason Resources provides assistance to people seeking help for drug or alcohol addiction, homelessness, jobs, education or anything that will help better the standard of living. The resource center is located at 140 state Route 300 in Belfair.

To buy tickets or to register for the cook-off, contact North Mason Resources at 552-2303.
