Teachers at Arthur Elementary School aren't letting a little bit of construction outside their windows bother their classes. Instead, they are using the opportunity for the students to see the workers as an instructional tool.,

Principal Buck Condill told the board of education during their regular December meeting that students are writing about what they see going on outside the classroom. They are also drawing pictures that show the men working.

Good things are happening also at Arthur-Loving-ton High School. Principal Brian Hatfield reported that Tristan Gingerich has been nominated for All-State Chorus.' Blake Miller and David Rosenbaum were nominated for Honors Chorus. In addition, Miller will have the opportunity sometime this school year to sing the National Anthem at an Illinois High School Association (IH-SA) championship event.

Hatfield announced the October and November Students of the Month. Receiving the recognition for October were Abi Duzan, junior high, and Sherelle Coller, high School. November Students of the Month are Kara Yoder, junior high, and Curtis Plank, high school.

The high school has five Illinois State Scholars. They are Natalie Bicknell, Cassandra Lambdin, Paige Mc-Daniel, Blake Miller, and Christopher Walbright. The recognition is based on ACT/SAT scores and other criteria.

The Knights football team continues to receive recognition. Tyler Schuring has been named to the IHSA All-State Academic Team. Logan West was named to the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association All-State Team, and

Jordan Feagin was named to the IHSFCA Honorable Mention All-State Team.

The next school board meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 15, at Lovington Grade School. It will begain at 6:30 p.m. with a tour of the building. Meeting will begin at 7.

The public is encouraged to participate in the tour and attend the meeting.
