The Snake River-Calamity Road will be closed from the junction with Gravel Flats Road to near the junction of Bear Creek Road near Palisades Dam. Access to the Calamity area will be available over the Palisades Dam.

The Palisades Ranger District will have logging activity associated with road construction in the Calamity Area. In addition, Bonneville County and the Forest Service will be working on the Snake River-Calamity Road. This section of road will be closed to the public during construction work. This project is in conjunction with the new bridge being built by Bureau of Reclamation below Palisades Dam. The road work is necessary to improve road access to the Calamity area.

Public vehicle access across the Palisades Dam will be permanently closed on Dec. 3, unless winter weather causes an earlier closure. Access to the Bear Creek and Calamity areas will be across the new bridge and over the reconstructed road.

Anyone with questions may contact Tracy Hollingshead or Randy Griffith at the Palisades Ranger District at 3659 East Ririe Highway, Idaho Falls, or phone (208) 523-1412.
